What is an “MRZ number?”
The MRZ number is a Machine Readable Zone found at the bottom of the photo page in your passport. For UK/EU Nationals, we can use this number to validate the document. Please see below:
In the example passport , the MRZ number is the bottom line reading:
9250764733 GBR 8809117 F 2007162 <<<<<<<<<<<<<< 08
This is the number Nasa will require to verify your identity.
We can accept a copy if this is easier, or a copy of your Full UK Birth Certificate.
For NON-EU nationals we require copies of your passport and visa.
Please note that we cannot accept an indefinite leave stamp which is held in an expired passport or in letter form. Any Visa must be held in a current passport or on a bio-metric card due to homeoffice changes to employee document checks.
Proof of Address
What proof of address documents are acceptable to Nasa?
We can utilise your UK Driving Licence number to help us confirm your proof of address. However, in instances where the number cannot be validated or you do not hold a UK driving licence, we may require another document instead.
We can accept:
Utility Bill (Gas, Electricity, Water, Council tax, Broadband, Landline, Sky/Virgin TV package)
Bank Letter (Bank Statement, General letter, Mortgage statement etc)
Other Letter (Job Centre, HMRC, UKBA, Solicitor)
UK Driving Licence (Must show both card and paper parts, and show your current address)
All documents must show your current address and be dated within the last 3 months.
If you’re document is not listed above, please let us know as we may be unable to accept this.
Please note that unfortunately we cannot accept: Payslips, P45 or P60 documents, Mobile Phone Bills or any document dated more than 3 months old.
